3rd Arm Video Camera Support - October 2009 Reviewed by: Dean Scott, Founder, 3rd Arm www.the3rdarm.com After only a short time in business, there are many exciting new products Coming to the 3rd Arm line that we feel will even further revolutionize the outdoor video industry. After visiting with literally hundreds of different customers and listening to their request, we feel that we have taken an already successful product and made it even better! The # 1 request was for a lighter 3rd Arm model that still had the strength & versatility as the original 3rd Arm, and thus the 3rd Arm Elite was born! The Elite models are crafted out of aircraft-grade Aluminum, with heavy duty parts and a non-stretch ratchet strap, all weighing only 6.8 lbs. This makes them an amazing 46% lighter while still maintaining the units overall strength & versatility. Our customers also requested the option of having the 3rd Arm camouflaged in their favorite camo pattern. Well, now that option is a reality! We have teamed up with many of the major camouflage companies to offer you the option of customizing your 3rd Arm camera support system in 5 popular camo patterns! The 3rd Arm Elite comes in two different sizes for both smaller HD cameras as well as larger, heavier cameras. Both models, the 3rd Arm Elite and the 3rd Arm Extreme Elite, are built out of the same aircraft grade Aluminum with a hardened steel pin that slides into the 3rd Arms universal mounting base! This gives videographers the ability to use both of the 3rd Arm camera arms with the same universal mounting base by simply switching out the different size camera arms to match your camera of choice. The 3rd Arms's patented mounting base has revolutionized camera arm support systems! With its ability to be attached to almost any tree, no matter how crooked it is, the 3rd Arm can be adjusted 30 degrees side to side and nearly 45 degrees up and down. All of this is accomplished with ease through the 3rd Arms quick adjust tension handles. New to our universal base is our all new self lubricating receiver bushing which allows for not only quieter insertion of your 3rd Arm into the base, but also a smoother, more fluid swing of the camera arm around the tree! The 3rd Arm product line has been tested extensively by veteran video producers with over 30 years experience in the field. The latest improvements and additions to the 3rd Arm line of products leaves no doubt that we now offer the Ultimate Video Camera Support System! |

NAP, Spitfire Mechanical Broad Head Review - February 2010 Review By: Dave Ziegler Spitfire is undoubtedly one of the most trusted names in mechanical Broad heads! Spitfires fly straight with pinpoint accuracy and perform better than any other mechanical broad heads thanks to the sharpest Diamize blades. Plus they stand up under the toughest conditions. The practice blades mean you can save your super-sharp blades for the big day. Super-durable hardened high carbon steel Trophy Tip; The patented scooped-out Slim line ferrule improves flight and penetration; Now featuring patented micro-grooves to enhance accuracy and penetration; patented snap-locking blade system folds the blades closed during flight, even out of today's fastest bows... no rubber bands needed; Stainless steel blades have the exclusive Diamize Edge for incredible sharpness you can see; Three .030" thick blades; 1 1/4" cutting diameter. The Spitfire is truly awesome! I've always used fixed broad heads with exceptional results but I was skeptical using a mechanical broad head with my new Bowtech Admiral. I'm not skeptical anymore! I shot five deer this past season with the Spitfire and the results were unbelievable. Clean pass through shots and bone crunching penetration were typical with the 100 grain mechanicals! As I found out, even a marginal shot, became a good shot with the Spitfire. The massive entry wounds left by the deploying razor sharp blades, left massive blood trails and resulted in quick kills each time! After a quick rinse and run through the Knife sharpener, I'm ready to go after another five with the same set of broad heads. Was I impressed by the 100 grain Spitfire? To say the least! |

By Dave Ziegler, Jr. When you look at a trail camera photo it is easy to see the deer in the picture, but there is more in the photo than what meets the eye. What area on the property was it taken?, What weather conditions were present?, Was it a daytime photograph?, Has this buck been observed on the property before?, are all important questions to answer. BuckSpy helps put all the pieces together by allowing you to store images captured by trail cameras, either digital or 35mm, AND information about Visual Observations made, in chronological order with its easy to use calendar format and point and click answer system. It combines all the information from your trail camera with the information from your hunting journal for a more complete view of your hunting area. You can create and print your own trail camera albums as well keep detailed information on harvests, habitat improvements made to your property, stand or blind specific information, deer sign found data, general wildlife information and much more. It even generates date filtered reports to show you Buck to Doe ratios, Age Class Structure, Observation Rates, Harvest Data and much more. It will also produce reports detailing your habitat enhancements such as soil test results, liming and fertilization rates, type of plot planted, timber stand improvements etc. Here are some of the features found on BuckSpy Advanced: " Store trail camera images " Create Trail Camera Photo Albums " Tag and Track Individual deer " Record visual observations " Record harvest data " Record general wildlife observations " Record weather data " Record habitat enhancements " Record deer sign found " Record deer stand information " Run property summary reports & Accept future software upgrades BuckSpy was designed to maximize the investment of your trail camera. Big Game Boss Extreme Hang On Stand - February 2010 Review By: Dave Ziegler. www.biggametreestands.com |
To say the very least, I am a guy who would prefer to keep his feet planted firmly on the ground, rather than crawling twenty plus feet up a live oak tree, situated on the side of a deep ravine with a nearly forty foot drop to the jagged rock stream bed bellow. With that said, this creates a major problem for me. You see, in order to consistently put big whitetail bucks on the ground, you gotta go high and you gotta go high in the areas where those bucks live. For the majority of my twenty plus years of bow hunting, I have spent my time chasing whitetails from the ground or from a perfectly pencil strait tree that was just big enough around to accommodate my large heavy, Volkswagen like climbing stand. I think you see my dilemma. For me, this all changed this year when I hunted with Aaron Milliken at Midwest Trophy Outfitters in West Central Illinois. Each day, ten to twelve hours of my five day trip was spent perched in a Boss Extreme Hang on stand from Big Game. I can firmly say that my opinion has clearly changed. I have never felt more comfortable in a hang on stand than I did during those five days of hunting. When put together with twenty four feet of Big Game Quick Sticks, I was able to hunt in areas where my old faithful climber was just never going to take me. I found out very quickly, that this was the way to go. Once I climbed in the stand for the first time, it was easy to see that the set up was more than solid and the climbing sticks made for a quick easy and SAFE assent and made coming out of the stand in the dark a breeze. So, if you are like me and you have shied away from the popular hang on model stands. Do yourself a favor and try the Boss Extreme Hang On line from Big Game! You won't second guess it! Some Stats: Large platform Comfortable 2"-thick seat cushion Rugged steel construction with powder-coated finish Built in footrest for added comfort Shooting rail flips up out of the way when not in use Seat height: 22" Platform size: 34" x 25" Weight: 27 lbs. Weight capacity: 300 lbs. |
